Like many of you, we are heartbroken by the devastation that Hurricanes Maria and Irma have brought to Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands. Hurricane Maria, in particular, not only devastated Puerto Rico but decimated the Island of Dominica. We are equally distraught by the news of the earthquake in Mexico.
The total breakdown of the electrical grids and communications systems as well as the devastating floods in the Caribbean has created a humanitarian crisis that will take years to recover from. Mexico also will need much help to find new housing and resources for thousands.
The Urban Health Plan Family is committed to doing our part to help our fellow countrymen, families and friends in need at this very difficult time.
We encourage and ask that you donate towards relief efforts. This is a time to rally together and give in an unselfish way to thousands of people who will feel the wrath of these natural disasters for many years to come. We have identified various organizations that support relief to the Caribbean Islands and Mexico. Urban Health Plan however will directly receive donations towards relief efforts in Puerto Rico. We feel that we are in a good position to manage the resources that will be donated for Puerto Rico given our familiarity with the Island and the ability for us to easily tap into local not for profit groups that will assure us that the money will be used effectively.
If you would like make a donation to Puerto Rico with a check, please make it payable to “Urban Health Plan Disaster Relief Fund.” You can drop it off at the executive office at 960 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY 10459.
Kindly donate. No donation is too small. Give freely, give generously, but most importantly GIVE ! All donations are really appreciated.
