Urban Health Plan announced today the successful re-accreditation of its Family/Adult Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Residency Program by The Consortium for Advanced Practice Providers, an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to support new and ongoing postgraduate training programs for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates in the achievement and maintenance of the highest standards of rigor and quality.
The Consortium is federally recognized by the United States Department of Education (ED). Its re-accreditation is for five years.
Established in 2019, Urban Health Plan’s Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant (NP/PA) Residency Program, is a year-long program that provides rigorous post-graduate training to new nurse practitioner and physician assistant graduates who gain a deep understanding of the social drivers of health and are embedded within provider teams working toward achieving health equity for all.
“We developed this residency program to serve as a pipeline of providers to address the current shortage of primary care providers in the country and to also attract people who are seeking an extra level of education and training in their career,” says Paloma Hernandez, President and CEO of Urban Health Plan. “This re-accreditation demonstrates that our program is recognized for its level of quality and is committed to pursuing excellence, which reflects our approach to providing patient care.”
“The NP/PA Residency Program is designed to prepare nurse practitioners and physician assistants to work in a community health setting with patients who have diverse clinical needs,” says Jennifer Genuardi, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs/clinical director, and director of clinical education. “Getting re-accredited confirms the quality of the postgraduate training we provide.”
