1 in 8 New Yorkers relies on a community health center. We are their medical home for primary care, dental, mental health, prenatal care, and more, regardless of ability to pay.
However, Medicaid reimbursement rates haven’t been updated since 1999/ 2000. Federal cuts could leave 1.5 million New Yorkers without coverage. Health centers are underpaid for telehealth. We are at a breaking point.
The Community Health Care Association of NYS is calling on the Legislature to invest the full $300 million community health centers need. Our President and CEO Paloma Izquierdo-Hernandez explains why in her op-ed featured in the EMPIRE REPORT.
