Urban Health Plan offers Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) the opportunity to participate in a 12-month residency program to reinforce and further develop professional competence while also training the clinician in a model of integrated care!

Graduates from an accredited FNP/AGNP/PMHNP master’s or doctoral program or PA program.
No. Scholar repayment can be deferred for the residency year and residents are not eligible for loan repayment during the residency year as it is a formal training program. However, residents can defer loan repayment during the residency year. Application for loan repayment programs such as National Health Service Corps and Nurse Corps can be initiated during the residency year. To be eligible for loan repayment during the post residency years. Please let the residency team know if you are eligible for one of these programs or have applied.
No. New York State license, NYS Medicaid enrollment, and DEA need to be in place by the start of the program. Residents must sit for and pass their board certification exam through AANP, ANCC or NCCPA.
The primary care/community health residency program is accredited as an NP/PA postgraduate residency training program by the National Nurse Practitioner Residency & Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC).
The psychiatric mental health residency program is not yet accredited. However, it is anticipated that application for accreditation for this program will take place in 2022.
