Today, Urban Health Plan turns 52!
We celebrated the way we do everything: AS ONE! UHP Associates took a moment to gather, at their respective sites, enjoy some cake, and pause to appreciate just how far our organization has come.
It all started in 1974, when Dr. Richard “Doc” Izquierdo opened a small South Bronx health center with a dream to provide a healthcare home where everyone is seen, respected, and cared for.
From our roots in the South Bronx, we’ve grown to serve even more communities across the Bronx, in Central Harlem, and in Corona, Queens. Across 13 health centers and 12 school-based health centers, we cared for more than 91,000 patients in 2025.
Today, Doc’s mission is alive in every health center, every school-based site, every exam room, and every smile at the front desk.
Thank you for trusting us with your care. And thank you to every UHP associate, past and present, for making this possible.
Here’s to 52 more. As Doc would say: “The best is yet to come!”
