Congratulations to our President and CEO Paloma Hernandez, who was named among City & State’s “Health Care Power 100” for the third year in a row!!

The “Health Care Power 100” recognizes the most influential healthcare practitioners, policymakers and public servants who work in hospitals, clinics, unions, nonprofit organizations, academia and advocacy.

Through Paloma’s leadership, Urban Health Plan has grown from a one-site community health center to one of the largest community health center systems in New York State.  Urban Health Plan serves Central Harlem, Corona, Queens, and of course the Bronx, where it has its roots, and is considered an anchor and significant economic engine that has contributed to the resurgence of growth and development in the community.

Paloma has devoted her career to increasing access to quality, affordable healthcare and reducing health disparities by fostering community development and forging strong partnerships.  She is a visionary committed to addressing the social determinants of health including food insecurity, housing, job readiness, and education.  In 2010, she led the establishment of the Dr. Richard Izquierdo, Health and Science Charter School, creating a pathway to healthcare careers for middle to high school students. 

Paloma’s dedication and passion toward improving the health and lives of the communities we serve is a model for us all! We applaud our amazing leader!
