We are thrilled to announce that Viju Jacob, MD, FAAP, Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Urban Health Plan, has been appointed as the Chair of the New York School-Based Health Foundation (NYSBHF)!
The NYSBHF is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, strengthening, and expanding access to New York’s 250 school-based health centers by providing technical assistance, training, and data services. Additionally, it raises public awareness of the vital role and potential of these health centers. The Foundation collaborates closely with the hashtag#NYSchoolBasedAlliance, which focuses on advocacy and membership and is affiliated with the National School-Based Health Alliance.
Dr. Jacob joined Urban Health Plan in 2003 as a pediatrician and, among his many responsibilities, oversees Urban Health Plan’s school-based health program, which serves 12 schools across the Bronx and Corona, Queens.
Fun Fact: As a new immigrant and new arrival to the Bronx, Dr. Jacob utilized a School-Based Health Center for some of his earliest dental care and received most of his booster immunizations at clinics in the borough he now proudly serves!
Join us in congratulating Dr. Jacob on this remarkable achievement!
