Every year on October 24th, thousands of Americans across the country celebrate Food Day. The Food Day movement promotes changes in both our diet and food policies. The goal of Food Day is for communities to have access to healthy foods that are affordable and produced with care for the environment, farm animals, and the people who grow the food.
This year, the focus is on eating a “Greener Diet”, incorporating more plant based foods in our diet as the typical American meat heavy diet can contribute to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other health problems. The food we eat, not only affect our health but also the health of our environment. Eating real can help save our health, our planet and put our food system on a more humane, sustainable path.
We invite our community to visit our Urban Health Plan health centers and enjoy our food demonstrations to sample a “greener” recipe. Please see the flyer below for the schedule.
