Diabetes is extremely prevalent in most urban communities, especially the Bronx. In a recent survey published by the New York City Department of Health, one in every three people in the borough suffers from Diabetes. Urban Health Plan (UHP) alone has over 4,500 patients that are dealing with this epidemic. It is Urban Health Plan’s mission to educate the Bronx population about prevention and management of this deadly disease. To do so, UHP is hosting two Diabetes Expos in the month of July. The events include food demonstrations, exercise classes, activities for children and Diabetes education.
Please join us for an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing to celebrate Urban Health Plan's 40 years of service to the community. For more information, please contact Pauline Cruz at 718-589-2440 ext. 2833
South Bronx residents traveled back in time when Urban Health Plan presented its annual Fiesta San Juan health fair to the community on Saturday, June 21. This year’s celebration used a groovy 70s theme in kiosks to give residents information about the many health, medical and social services offered by Urban Health Plan. The day-long celebration raised awareness about health resources needed to combat health challenges facing many South Bronx residents. Residents enjoyed health screenings, live music, activity areas for children and senior citizens, and great giveaways.
