About this clinic

The “El Nuevo” in El Nuevo San Juan Health Center distinguishes the building from our original site, The San Juan Health Center, now affectionately known as “El Viejo San Juan.”

Considered the heart of our clinical operations, El Nuevo San Juan Health Center houses 16 departments offering medical, diagnostic and ancillary services. Since it opened in 2001, El Nuevo San Juan serves as the home base for our network of satellite clinics in the South Bronx, Central Harlem and Corona, Queens. Its central location, convenient schedule, comprehensive primary and specialty services and a bilingual, culturally competent staff, (most of whom live in the neighborhood) make it a vital community health resource.

In 2014, El Nuevo San Juan expanded to create the Simpson Pavilion, which added more clinical space for obstetrics, pediatrics, gynecology, adult medicine, support services and podiatry.

With this expansion, Urban Health Plan tripled the number of medical exam rooms, expand specialty services and special programs and expand its radiology services, allowing for more state-of-the-art health services that promote best health outcomes for a vibrant and growing South Bronx community. More than 20,000 South Bronx residents visit the Simpson Pavilion, a 54,000 square-foot facility, to receive quality healthcare.
