UHP has made quality and quality improvement (QI) paramount aspects of its service delivery. In 2005 we introduced a quality improvement division, The Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH), that serves as UHP’s internal QI “arm. The IACH oversees the agency’s Quality Management Plan and annually updates to the plan under the direction of the CEO, with clinical quality under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
The plan includes: total quality management, risk management and safety; patient and staff satisfaction, administration of the health disparity collaborative projects, a robust compliance program, and evaluation and performance improvement. With the overall mission of “improving the health status of underserved communities by developing and disseminating innovative best practices,”
UHP’s IACH ensures adherence to the evidence-based approach of the Care Model and that the highest quality care is delivered to patients in the most cost effective manner by objectively, systematically, and continuously evaluating and monitoring clinical services and operations.
